[DJ MIX] BP Sessions “Sound Barrier”

Chapter 7 - CD Cover

This one’s for driving, folks!  Straight up pedal to the metal haulin’ ass shit!  I made this mix when my car was down for an engine rebuild, anticipating it’s return, so I could continue bullying the streets of H-Town.

So here it is, another BP Session release, “Sound Barrier”.  Drum-n-Bass extravaganza!  Top notch tracks picked exclusively for this mix, pack with hard hitting basslines and nasty drops.

Be careful, this one has been known to induce a heavy foot!

[DJ MIX] Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - CD Cover

It’s been 5 years since the last Chapter in my ‘DJ Bibliography’ series.  To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t planning on making another one, but as I enter a new chapter in my own life, I thought it appropriate to do so.  I don’t have a Drum-n-Bass chapter either, so it’s about damn time!!

This mix is BADASS!!!  Even if you don’t really like DnB, you won’t be able to help but bob your head up and down to the crazy basslines and sweet melodies!

Tracks from various years (as far back as ’99) to the present, seamlessly blended between various progressive styles and techstep.  Tactfully mixed, no doubt!  In the spirit of the DnB style too.  Not too heavy, not too light, gotta say, it’s just right!

[DJ Mix] June 7th 2009 – Wishful Thinking

Wishful Thinking - Track ImageThis is a birthday gift for a dear friend in Argentina.  Happy Birthday Victoria!!!! Muahsssss mi bella!!

This is a collection of tracks that Vicky and I stumbled upon together, more progressive in nature.  I haven’t made a progressive mix in years and I think this came out very nicely, maybe one of the best I’ve made!!

This is the very first mix using my new toy, the Hercules DJ Console RMX (I use it in conjunction with Image Line’s Deckadance).  I’m still getting used to it, but I think this came out well, considering I didn’t have a lot of time with this mix.  You will hear a couple transitions that strayed just a tad, but I decided to leave them for realism and character…

Jan 2009 - CD Cover

This one has been sitting on my hard drive for a couple months, my apologies for not getting this out quicker! I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it…  It’s quite effin’ baddass to be honest, so here you go.

Lemme tell you how this came about, it’s kinda magical, if you will… Some nights before I recorded this, I downloaded a bunch of tracks using eMule (yes, I rediscovered this useful tool recently); I hadn’t really listened to them yet, just weeded out the obvious lame tracks with a quick run through.  I decided I would just mess around in Deckadance and see what could come about.  I thought, what the hell, I’ll record whatever I do, so loaded up Audition and hit record…

I started off with a couple tracks to warm up (which didn’t make the final cut) then finally found my groove.  Now, when you listen to this, remember I hadn’t heard any of these tracks before, much less mixed them… lolz, and shit, they fit together like puzzle pieces… I got lucky, or shall I say, the spirit of Music decided to bless me with what I like to call one of those magic mixes… (you DJs know exactly what I’m talkin’ about)

I was fumbling around with cut cutoff/resonance filters too, you can tell during some of the mixes.  I think I lucked out with all the mistakes I made.  I cleaned up the final cut and added on a few mixes, so this turned out to be a mostly live / studio mix.  I will call these hybrid mixes from now on.

I hope you enjoy!  (I still can’t get enough of this mix.. so much energy!)

[DJ Mix] BP Sessions ‘Hazardous’

Hazardous - CD Cover

CAUTION: extreme beats and low frequencies, may be hazardous to your sneakers.

Back with another release for the BP Sessions series.  ‘Hazardous’ is probably my craziest to date.  Hard, almost scary breaks, heavy laden with subwoofer killin’ bass lines and dopeass hooks; sure to move even the most timid dancer!!

I tried to get this release out before Halloween, but only had about half of it complete before I ran out of compatible tracks.  So it sat on the back burner until I came across the right songs for the job!  (good things do come to those who wait–so cliche; so true!)  So, enjoy this for the holiday season!!

[DJ Mix] BP Sessions ‘Free’

Free - CD Cover

Next in the BP Sessions series, ‘Free’.  (As you might have noticed, I’m dropping the vol #’s from the titles)

Who says nothing is free in life?  I beg to differ! This mix was made with the free download promotions from BeatPort.  That’s right folks, FREE songs.  I’ve downloaded a good 25-30 or so quality tracks, at no cost.  All you need is an account–search for ‘promotions’ or ‘beatport promotions’.

It only took three days to complete this entire mix–by far, the quickest CD I’ve ever completed!  It usually takes months to find the right tracks, let alone complete a full length mix… I guess the clean energy that goes along with giving something away helped bring this into existence! wooooot!!

This CD was done in the spirit of house music and, indeed, it has the spirit of house music!  It covers a wide range of house genres: mystical/progressive/soulful/tribal.   Definitely deep and groovy!!

[DJ Mix] BP Sessions ‘Beautiful’

Last Updated on Wednesday, 24 February 2010 11:45 Written by SiMuL Wednesday, 20 August 2008 04:32

BeatPort Sessions Volume 2. It’s funny how the spirit of music likes to ‘nudge’ its will on us at times. I intended for this to be a more mellow and tranquil collection of tracks. However, as I struggled to find the right songs to continue the level of perfection I like my mixes to have, I could tell the direction this CD was taking was not as I had originally intended. It seems, though, that the spirit really does know best…

I lay before you my latest mix, please enjoy this more than I did making it!

The BeatPort Sessions Volume 1. This is a brand new mix series I’ve just started! I’ve been purchasing a lot of music over at beatport.com and decided I would start a new series with, in my opinion, the best tracks I find there. This is an unusual track selection for me, but I love it! Some of the tracks are a little odd but awesome! Overall a nice deep tribal feel. Definitely a must download if you’re into house music!

I don’t know how to classify this one really, but it’s smooth, groovy, funky, and dope all at the same time.  However, it still needs a lotta lovin to get it into the shape it needs to be.

Testimonials

In an age where we are inundated by soulless entertainment, in every aspect, it seems that music has had the biggest loss. It has become more and more difficult to find Truth in music, to find knowledge, spiritual strength, and emotion evoking sounds.

SiMuL is just the Truth that our music needs, breathing much needed Universal Mana into his work.

SiMuL uses his mind, body, and spirit as a channel and allows just such Truth to be expressed through his music and mixes. It is in his music that I hear a real message. A message wrapped in an envelope of sound that delivers it while driving you through a landscape of human emotions. His music calls deep inside and allows our own truth, emotion, and spirit to shine through. His particular sound creates sacred space which allows the body to become a vessel through dance and lets the experience of universal energy flow outward, and inward, to all who are open to its call.

SiMuL contains a rare light that, when shined, allows all of us to connect as One.

To put it simply, SiMuL has a message of Truth that brings music back to its primal purpose of evoking our spirits and making them move.
